Feel it: Normally, you are able to feel both of your submandibular gland's just behind the midportion of your jaw on each side. They should be of similar size and consistency, and neither one should be tender or enlarged. If one of them is bigger or more tender than the other, then it is likely swollen. If the swelling does not go down you should be seen by an ENT doctor
