A member asked:

Husbands crp protein result is 96. has mild cirrhosis and acute kidney failure. why is it so high? dangerous? what does it mean?

Inflammation: CRP and ESR are both non specific biomarkers for inflammation or acute infection. In itself, neither is harmful, but help to monitor response to treatment or identify a problem. ESR and CRP should be interpreted differently: CRP is more sensitive of the acute phase of inflammation than the ESR. Finding the cause and treatment is key. I wish him well.
