A member asked:

In general, can a nephrologist be somewhat better at treating resistant hypertension than an average primary care physician, or not?

Dr. Ira Friedlander answered

Specializes in Cardiac Electrophysiology

The quality of the: care you receive is not necessarily dependent on the specialty certification. There are many primary care physicians who excel at the management of hypertension. By contrast there are many nephrologists who are not interested in taking the time to manage hypertension in their practices. Find a practitioner interested in you and your health and that will be the best care you can receive.
