Wisdom teeth: It is unlikely that tooth fragments were left in the extraction site. If you are still in terrible pain one week post op, then your surgeon should be evaluating the site for any complications. In addition, a water pik is contraindicated for use in a healing surgical wound due to the potential for tissue damage and irritation. Please call your surgeon.

Pain: First, call the extracting Dentist or specialist Oral Surgeon and report your pain. You may require additional post-surgical treatment for immediate relief. Second, put the Water-Pik away until Surgeon says it's OK to use. Third, probably bone spicules or food debris rather than tooth pieces. If you still have them show them to the surgeon.

See your Dentist: You shouldn't still have pain after a week. See your dentist to find out what's going on. The pieces were probably bits of bone which is normal after an extraction.
