Yes.: Certainly the stress of being sick can increase anxiety. In addition, several medical conditions can cause an increase in anxiety. In particular, pneumonia often causes shortness of breath (even after a few weeks of having it) and the shortness of breath could actually trigger anxiety symptoms. It is helpful to know if there is an underlying cause for increased stress, other than pneumonia.
