Bacterial vaginosis?: Vaginitis IS and infection. It's just a quesiton of what infection you have. Probably not yeast, which usually does not cause odor, and only slight discharge. The main cause of discharge with odor is bacterial vaginosis, an overgrowth of mostly normal vaginal bacteria. See a doctor for evaluation and treatment, including testing for STDs like gonorrhea, chlamydia, and trichomonas. Good luck!
