No: the persistence of a cough after Pneumonia is VERY COMMON and reflects continued IRRITATION which unlike INFECTION is not transmitted to others! You need a course of a cough suppressant (The "classic" one is Codeine ...ask your PCP for a suggestion/Prescription Hope this helps! Dr Z

Diagnosis?: "Pneumonia" is not, itself, a diagnosis. Many pneumonias are not infections. Of those which are infections there are hundreds of different kinds. Common viral pneumonias are not responsive to antibiotics and may cause weeks of cough. Ask your Dr what kind you had. Risk of a kiss depends on the presence of an infectious agent and the susceptibility of the other person.
