WHY??: Why ask this? Herpes on the face [labial] is usually type 1. Most adults already carry this virus and therefore cannot catch it anew from another person. Eye infections from it are serious but not common. Oral and topical anti-virals are very effective. If you wish to define your vulnerability you can get a blood test to see if you carry hsv-1 and/ or hsv-2.
