Topical Medication: Arthritis localized to the hands is often well treatment with topical anti-inflammatory medication. I like voltaren (diclofenac) gel. Pennsaid is another option. Both of these are well tolerated with little stomach irritation.

NSAID: An over the counter NSAID such as naprosen or Ibuprofen would be a good start. If you need stronger or longer term medications i would consult a physician.
