23 male. keep waking up with sore, visibly red and inflamed middle pinky joint. hurts pretty badly, eventually lessens during the day. definitely its worst when i wake up. scared its onset rheumatoid arthritis.. what are the other possibilities?

Other arthritis: There are other types of arthritis, including run-of-the-mill osteoarthritis (OA, generic "arthritis"), infections (viral, Lyme disease, TB, Neisseria - latter 3 can be treated), paraneoplastic arthritis (related to cancer), lupus or other autoimmune conditions, & arthritis related to gout, crystal disease, or other systemic disease (IBD). RA runs in families. Recommend seeing your doctor soon.
