Keep nail grooves so: Keep your nail grooves (side of nails) soft by utilizing moisturizer or cream/lotion daily.

Ingrown nail : The patient cannot prevent an ingrown nail from returning. Seek the care of a podiatrist.

Ingrown toenail: Permanent removal of an ingrown toenail involves an office procedure under local anesthesia. Once the nail border is removed the matrix (root) of the nail is cauterized usually with a chemical (phenol). The ingrown nail should not grow back after this is performed.
