Regional issue: The local health departments and state monitor the rabies activity within their respective regions.The presence of any infected animals, commonly skunks/wolves/foxes/etc suggest the possibility that other animals may have been exposed. The rabies vaccine series is very costly and only given when the need is established.You can call the local health department to find out the local protocal.
