It's simple math: If a tall person has a steady, unchanging weight while on a 2000 calorie/day intake, and he changes nothing except drops to a 1500 calorie/day intake, he might be able to lose a pound a week. If successful, he can drop 60 pounds in 14 months. However, there are many benefits to doing some exercise, even if only 5 minutes several times each day. It's better than being totally sedentary.
