Pretty good!: Fact: Cold sores on the mouth or face are caused by HSV-1 and are commonly transmitted to the genitals (causing genital herpes) through oral to genital sex. Possible: It is possible for HSV 1 to be transmitted through oral sex. The good news is that if the partner gets it, it is usually not recurrent like HSV 2 would be. The actual chance of transmission is fairly low since there was no current outbreak.
