Adenomyosis diagnosi: The diagnosis of Adenomyosis is very difficulty to determine pre-surgically. Sometimes an astute ultrasound examiner can visualize the interdigitations that the endometrial glands make into the smooth muscle of the uterus, but does not always confirm the diagnosis. Most cases are diagnosed post operatively by the Pathology report of the tissue removed.

Adenomyosis: Adenomyosis is a condition where benign endometrial glands (lining of uterus)exist in the myomterium (muscular portion of the uterus) and is suspected in patients with heavy menses & severe cramping. Characteristics of adenomyosis can sometimes be seen using pelvic ultrasound or pelvic MRI. Definitive diagnosis is difficult as that would mean the uterus itself would be examined by a pathologist.
