White blood cells: As long as the white blood cell count is within normal range, slight shifts in the differential (number and percentage of different types of white blood cells) (i.e. neutrophils and lymphocytes, are usually not anything to be worried about. These values change on a day by day basis. Having increased neutrophils and decreased lymphocytes may be a sign of recent exposure to a bacterial infection.
