Measurement error: If a person's blood pressure measurement shows a diastolic (bottom number of TWO numbers) of 160, and she is walking, talking, and smiling as usual, one likely cause is a measurement error. That means the instrument shows a number, but the number is not the patient's actual blood pressure. Instruments just show numbers, and it's up to the doctors and nurses to decide what the numbers mean.

A "Pulmonary Stress: Test" is ALSO a CARDIAC stress test and elevated systolic (top figure) is NORMAL HOWEVER an elevated DIASTOLIC pressure is NOT normal and may reflect incipient ("early") Hypertensive cardiovascular Disease(HCVD) Speak with the physician who ordered your test as to what the next steps may be....certainly examination by a CARDIOLOGIST may be wise! Hope this helps! Dr Z
