This is a common: Incidental finding, usually of no concern.

Varies: There can be multiple potential causes. Basically on your X-ray there are small oval areas in the scaphoid and capitate bones where there is little or no bone. This can be from arthritis, gout, simple cysts or other causes. I would discuss directly with your doctor.
