I have a cardiac cath on monday. if it comes back good does that rule out my heart as the cause of my chest pain and is this a safe test?

Yes: a normal cardiac catheterization study pretty much rules out CORONARY Disease as the source of your chest pain Nowadays in a major Medical Center done by a team who are experienced it is a VERY SAFE TEST Hope this helps! Dr z

Cardiac Cath: Hi. A cardiac catheterization is a test that helps doctors look at the insides of the arteries that supply your heart with blood. If the test is normal, it only means that these arteries are clear of blockages but does not rule out other types of heart pain such as pericarditis as one example. It is a safe and common test with a very low complication rate. Hope that helps!
