Shingles: Uncomplicated shingles eruption doesn't usually have associated swelling. Secondary bacterial infection or cellulitis may cause swelling. Another possibility is weakness of the leg veins(such as seen with varicose veins or phlebitis(blood clot). It's best to have your physician examine you for any of these conditions. In the meantime elevate your leg.
