No necessarily: Pneumonia is a fairly common initial menifestation of lung cancer as the tumor started from the inner lining of the bronchial tumes and can block the lumen which leads to infection, menifesting as a Pneumonia. Tumor can quite small yet sometimes it has already spead simultanously. So only a CT scan or PET/CT scan can give you a better idea about the stage of lung Cancer(early versus late).
