Dermatitis: If the area of itching is just in 1 area, & if you have no fever, rash, or other symptom, then most likely it's just dermatitis - irritation of the skin. Any number of things can cause it - elastic bands (rubber, especially if you're a healthcare worker), detergents / perfumes / scents / soaps, chemicals, other causes. If there is dry flaking skin, symptoms are worse; oil helps retain moisture.
