Pinching: Sharp, shooting chest pains brought on by a deep breath, cough, or certain motions are often due to pinched intercostal nerve or muscle which runs between 2 ribs. This is more of a nuisance rather than anything serious and tends to resolve without any treatment. If symptoms persist, have your physician examine your chest carefully.
