Oral HPV: No, this defintely is not "automatic". Oral HPV is a lot less common than genital, and the genital HPV types seem to be less likely to infect the oral cavity. When it happens, usually it remains asymptomatic. The main potentially serious outcome (throat cancer) is too rare to worry much about. You can be vaccinated to prevent some HPV types, including HPV16, the only one causing throat cancer.
