Barium xrays showd diffuse thickened appearance of the mucosal pattern of the jejunum and ileum raising suspicion of mucosal or submucosal edema. what does it mean and possible indications ?

Inflammation: Thickening appearance and sub mucosal edema mean there is a significant degree of inflammation noted in your bowel lining. This translates to jejunitis and ileitis and may result in non specific bowel pain, diarrhea, constipation or spasmodic bowel discomfort. It is important that you ask your gastroenterologist to interpret the findings in the context of your symptoms.

This is: a "non-specific" finding on imaging and must be combined with your symptoms and other testing may be necessary. By itself ..it means little to nothing! Hope this helps! Dr Z
