Inflammation: Thickening appearance and sub mucosal edema mean there is a significant degree of inflammation noted in your bowel lining. This translates to jejunitis and ileitis and may result in non specific bowel pain, diarrhea, constipation or spasmodic bowel discomfort. It is important that you ask your gastroenterologist to interpret the findings in the context of your symptoms.

This is: a "non-specific" finding on imaging and must be combined with your symptoms and other testing may be necessary. By itself ..it means little to nothing! Hope this helps! Dr Z

It depends on Sympto: You need to give us details about your medical history. Why was this Barium study done? what are your symptoms in the abdomen, if any?. These details are helpful to arrive at a solution and guide us further testing and in interpretation of tests.
