A member asked:

I have been experiencing pain in my right jaw hinge for the last 2 weeks, feel pain when i push inside ear towards jaw, and have small lump on outside?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

TMJ: Any signs of infection (fever, cough, pain with swallowing). It sounds as if this could be TMJ syndrome. The joint where your jaw pivots can get inflamed. NSAIDs such as Ibuprofen can help but need to be taken around the clock for 5-7 days. Ibuprofen dosing is 400-600mg every 6 hours (normal kidneys). Don't use if pregnant . See PCP if worse or new issues arise.
