Spontaneous loss: It is likely that you had spontaneous loss of an early pregnancy, which is not uncommon. About 25% of early pregnancies are lost, mostly due to chromosomal defects in the embryo. Usually the only manifestation is a slightly heavy, delayed period. Wish you good health. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Drink enough water daily so that your urine is mostly colorless. Practice safe sex.

Positive HPT: It is possible that there was a very early miscarriage - suggested by the bleeding - if the embryo was lost, your HCG levels might have dropped to undetectable levels. Please consult your gynecologist if any symptoms develop or you remain concerned.

Probably complete ab: If the pregnancy detected by the hpt's was very early and the betaHCG levels were very low and if all the products of this early conception were spontaneously passed with your vaginal bleeding, that may explain why your HCG had returned to 0 by the time you went to the ER. You probably had a spontaneous complete abortion of a very early pregnancy.

Sorry for your loss: Losing a pregnancy at any stage is a sad thing. There should not be a problem if you wish to conceive again. Best wishes to you and your partner.
