Your BMI is just: under 30, according to my calculations. The, technically, puts you in the overweight, not obese, category. Bariatric surgery is usually advised, and covered by insurance, for those whose BMI is >40 or 35 to 39.9 with a serious weight related problem, i.e. type 2 diabetes, etc. Occasionally someone with a BMI of 30 to 34 qualifies if health problems are severe. Bariatric surgery likely not for you
