Sometimes the level: of calcium in the urine or blood is so high that it precipitates and forms deposits in the kidney called nephrocalcinosis. The is related to, but not the same as kidney stones. It can be caused by several genetic syndromes, hyperparathyroidism and vitamin D toxicity, certain meds, TB, renal tubular acidosis, etc. It is usually managed by treated the underlying condition.
