The study they cited: ,and some others, do show an association between xanax(and similar drugs) and lung cancer. An association does not prove causation, and further research is necessary. However, it is a worrisome finding, given the large number of benzodiazepine users. It underscores that there is no "free lunch" in medicine: all drugs have potential side effects and risks, and should only be used when necessary.
