Neck lump: A palpable mass under the skin or muscle of the neck or anywhere on the body could represent a myriad of possible lesions. Lipomas (benign fatty tumors) or lymph nodes represent two of these possibilities. Diagnosis with certainty can only be made with excisional biopsy (removing lump). See a general surgeon for an opinion and possible biopsy.
