If you have: No stones that are visible on good quality ultrasound and ct scan is normal, it sounds like chronic acalculous cholecystitis, almost synonymous with "functional gallbladder disease" which means simply that your gallbladder does not work properly, even without stones. If you are having symptoms, there is a good chance that cholecystectomy will relieve them. Talk to a surgeon. And get his opinion.

Yes: Chronic cholecystitis occurs when there is inability of the gallbladder to empty into the small intestine, with inflammation, sometimes with sludge or stones.

Functional : Gallbladder disease means the gallbladder does not contract (empty bile) like it should. If your hida scan included a gallbladder ejection fraction (using Kinevac or cck - see report), a normal ejection fraction is usually greater than 35-50 %. Chronic cholecystis means the gallbladder did not fill within the first hour of the hida, and implies poor functioning and inflammation.
