Stones or crystals?: Urinalysis shows crystals, not stones. Stones are passed or found on imaging. Many folks have calcium oxalate crystals as urine cools & these are not calcium stones. If you have in fact passed or been discovered to have a calcium stone, the key to prevention is drinking lots of water and checking for underlying disease (sarcoid, hyperparathyroidism). Sorry if i misunderstood.

Calcium renal stones: If you are constantly forming kidney stones (ks), you need to have 24 hour urine collection for calcium, uric acid and phosphate. If you have high levels of calcium (c) in your urine in 24 hours, you may need to be on hctz (hydrochlorothiazide) therapy to reduce your urine c. If you have high levels of parathyroid hormone, you may also have an increased incidence of ks and need treatment. See a urologist for an answer.

More water, low salt: Low dietary calcium does not inhibit stone formation, in fact the reverse. Restricting salt and protein will help. Drinking more water to increase urine flow will also help.
