Trauma or infection: You need to determine if you think the swelling is just from trauma of the encounter or if it is from infection. If the area is swollen, red and hot this could be an infection and you would need to see a doctor. If you have any vaginal discharge, see a doctor. If you think it is from trauma, cool compresses will help relieve the pain and swelling.
