Fluid seepage: Any time your normal eye clearance fails, so that fluid seeps out of the eye coating the lids and lashes or dripping over the face, that is discharge. The only exception is when the tear drainage is compromised and clear fluid drips onto the cheek - that would not be called discharge. Discharge occurs with infection, allergy and some injuries.
