Throat swelling: The condition in which the mucus membrane or tissues beneath this swell anywhere along the throat. The throat starts behind the nose in the nasopharynx , goes down to the oropharynx behind the oral cavity, and finally ends in the hypopharynx, which is where the larynx or voice box is located.
