Random swelling caus: Random throat swelling is not a normal occurrence, even if it is quick. You need to see your doctor to make sure you are not reacting to foods, inhalants or other thing in your environment. Stress in patient with c1 esterase deficiency (hereditary angioedema) can trigger sweling. Medications are also a possible cause. Please get evaluated.

Allergic reaction: Many things can cause quick throat swelling including: 1. Allergic reactions to foods, drugs, insect stings 2. Hereditary angioedema - a disease due to an inherited deficiency of an immune protein. 3. Acquired angioedema - similar to number 2 above but not inherited. 4. Ace inhibitors can cause swelling due to effects on bradykinin receptors 5. Infection can cause slow and even rapid issues.
