Discontinuity: A tendon rupture occurs when the structure of the tendon becomes discontinuous. The tendon connects a muscle to a bone allowing the contractile force of the muscle to be transmitted to the bone allowing for motion to occur. In a tendon rupture, this mechanism can be disrupted.
