What difference?: You don't say what the difference is. The main thing that comes to mind is that it's less common these days to automatically use a nasogastric tube to keep the stomach empty. Just withholding food until pain starts to improve usually is sufficient. If some other difference is on your mind, you'll need to ask a new question. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
