Don't want surgery?: Forgive my frankness. This is what a basal cell carcinoma on your nose will look like if you let it grow, before it finds its way into your brain. Let's hope that little thing is something else instead -- with today's fancy mohs surgery, the scars are barely visible.

Have a tiny biopsy: Have the scar biopsied without removing any normal tissue for the smallest possible scar and a definitive diagnosis. If it is benign, you are done. If it is a basal cell, only a small margin is generally needed to minimize the chance of recurrence. If it is a basal cell, the surgeon is not going to do anything that the cancer will eventually do. Get it taken care of!
