My ora quick test says it expires 9/2016. it's 9/5/16 right now. does this mean not to use it in september or after september?

OK to use now: I would take it to mean it is good until 9/30/16. Expiration dates on tests are not exact and most tests will be good for several weeks if not months after the "expiration date." If the kit is no longer good the results will not look like the examples they give. But you can call them at 1-866-436-6527 to make sure my answer is accurate.
