A member asked:

My son is now 14 years and 8 months and 167.5cm. he's predicted to grow to 170cm. hormone is suggested to help him grow taller. is it effective? if so, how much weight can be increased? are there any side effects?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

5.5 feet is normal: There should be growth in boys at age 14 years. Most people reach their maximum height in their late teens. Without nutritional problems or chronic childhood illnesses, height is largely based on genetics and parental heights. Aside from eating right, exercising, sleeping well, and being happy, there's not much a person nor his doctor should do to increase the final height of a normal child.
