A member asked:

I'm on lovenox (enoxaparin) longterm; is this safe. also the dose is .6mg/6ml bid... am i suppose to inject the air bubble? is this dangerous ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on how long: 60mg/0.6mL is a standard dose for an average size adult (1mg for every kilogram of body weight). It's usually only used for a few days up to 2 weeks, then changed to a different blood thinner. Long-term can cause osteopenia (bone loss) but even short-term use can cause side effects including bleeding, liver problems, rash, anemia...) Before injecting, hold tip up and push the air bubble out.
