A member asked:

What is a dissociative seizure? is this related to anxiety so high it causes a seizure?? is memory loss assiciated with this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Dx of exclusion: Hi David, dissociative seizures are non-epileptic and can be caused by a number of factors (extreme anxiety being one possibility); they require careful evaluation to determine etiology and treatment. Amnesia is possible, but if the seizures are truly psychogenic, the loss is not due to nervous system damage, and should respond to appropriate treatment. Hope this is helpful. Take good care.
