Not really: Complete shaving of the affected area (head or genital area, depending on head versus pubic lice) might be effective. Otherwise, a pesticide will be needed. No worries about it: the personal treatments for lice (e.g. permethrins, ivermectin, lindane) all are very safe when used as directed.
