Needs further exam: The answer depends on many factors. If the surgery is recent, the nerve to the ring finger may just be inflamed or traumatized by the procedure and may return to normal over time. It is also possible that the nerve to that finger was accidentally damaged during surgery. The answer requires at least an examination and possible further testing to determine.

Finger pain/numb: If you are within a few hours of the surgery a digital block may have been applied which would numb the adjacent digits and should be temporary. I would contact your treating surgeon to discuss your concerns. Your dressing may also be tight putting pressure on the adjacent digital nerve.
