Radiation exposure: The amount of radiation in an xray and BMD is minimal. radiation doses from CT may be highly variable between institutions. CT head = 2mSv radiation doses from 0.1 to 1.0 mSv carry an additional risk of death from cancer comparable to the risk of death associated with a flight of 4500 miles, whereas doses in the range of 1 to 10 mSv have a higher risk, comparable to driving 2000 miles.

9/13/23 Would a head X-Ray show a skull fracture and the plate and screws used to fix it 18 years ago? Do skull bones grow back together? With a plate and screws in your skull, is it more dangerous to have a head X-Ray, head CT or head MRI?
I've had a ct scan of my head and a MRI of my neck and head. They were fine. Also had a X-ray of my c spine and it showed a possible deformity. Symptoms are getting worst , can barely walk now. Very off balance. Life threatening?

How does a panoramic x-ray compare to a ct with iodine contrast in detecting jaw bone tumors? I do not want iodine contrast as i have a bad thyroid, and insurance will not cover an mri for me unless i have the ct first. please advise?
