Evaluation: Have your doctor do a specialized sonogram called a sonohystogram or a diagnostic hysteroscopy. Persistent mid cycle bleeding often is caused by small endometrial polyps which can be surgically removed. A Mirena (levonorgestrel) IUD may work better than oral contraceptives.
