Muscle or nerve pain: These symptoms could be coming from a pinched nerve or directly from the muscle. You could initially try a massage, heat and ibuprofen. If no improvement you will need an evaluation and xrays

Need more informatio: Tall thin men with stabbing pain makes me worry about spontaneous pneumothorax. Older men and women i worry about the aorta. In the elderly if the pain is burning then it could be shingles. In a young women it could be muscle spasms after hard exercise. If it is really bothersome you'll need to see a doctor. Hope it helps.
