Can my friend's saliva become contagious in a day after a rabid dog bite on his hand? will there be symptoms before the contagious period?

No: It takes time for the virus to replicate within the wound and spread to the saliva producing areas.That would be far too soon.That is why we can give the rabies shots and stop it from spreading.
